Dance Party with Bulgarika! plus an afternoon Dance Workshop
Saturday, Sept 15, 2018 from 3 PM – 11 PM
Payson Park Congregational Church parish hall,
365 Belmont Street, Belmont, Massachusetts
The Folk Arts Center is pleased to welcome back the band Bulgarika for a fabulous Bulgarian and Macedonian music and dance event. Donka and Nikolay Kolev return to Boston along with two other master musicians on their 2018 tour.
Bulgarika 2018 features:
Donka Koleva - lead vocals
Nikolay Kolev - gadulka (3- or 4-stringed bowed instrument)
Stoyan Kostov - vocals, tambura (plucked stringed instrument)
Michael Ginsburg - tupan (drum)
Join us for an afternoon dance workshop, 3-6 pm, with expert teacher Michael Ginsburg, and for a lively dance party with music by Bulgarika, 8-11 pm, featuring participatory dancing for all levels. Beginning dancers may find that many dances at the party can be followed by watching the leaders. Don’t miss this exciting evening of Bulgarian and Macedonian music and dance! Please help protect the hall's wooden floor by changing from street shoes to clean, soft-soled shoes for dancing.
To arrange for private vocal or instrumental lessons with members of Bulgarika, please contact Donka Koleva:
